Stop, take a break…take a break from mindless scrolling because this might just be the post (and push) you’ve needed. 🚨

See, we’ve all binge-shopped,no there’s no point denying it. Just take a look at your Valentine’s Day purchases. But it’s okay, it’s not your fault. In fact, with more and more people getting busier there just isn't time to run to the shops, and so we turn online. And you could be the one providing that value to people with drum roll please E-commerce.(Ta-dum-dish)

In 2026, India is projected to be the 3rd largest e-commerce market in the world, according to a report by IBEF. Of this India’s e-retail market will scale to around $150bn. For perspective, that means for every Rs.100 spent, Rs. 10 will be spent online - Rs.10 that could be yours for the taking. That might sound like bad news if you’ve not started abhi bhi, but good news, there’s still time.

What if I told you that you could start your own ecommerce business in less than an hour? Don’t feel daunted - Amazon started from a book-seller, Paytm from a mobile content site, and the next big thing might just be from someone who’s reading this article. Yes, I mean YOU.👉

But, first, here’s (almost) all you need to know to about e-commerce:

  1. Who can open an e-commerce store?

In a word: anyone. But that does mean increased competition. Don't worry though, having spent 1000+ hours learning behind the scenes, and working with clients, I’ll walk you through to making a stellar site that’ll have you going, “So beautiful, so elegant, just looking like a wow”. 😍

2. What do you need?

  • A Purpose and a Goal 🎯 - Like all great things start, there must be a purpose to starting, a pain-point you wish to solve. Need inspiration? Ask your closest people what’s not working for them in their life. After all, that’s exactly how Zomato was started, consolidating menus for colleagues.

Keep a clear goal in mind that is realistic and attainable. It’s the baby steps that count.

  • A Product to Sell - The strategy for finding products for an online store is very similar to that of a brick-and-mortar store: look for the best quality at the best price—easy, right? But there is a difference.  With an e-commerce site, you can choose to sell digital products as well, cue NFT craze.


  • A Showroom to Showcase - What do Amazon, Nykaa, and BookMyShow have in common? Apart from being places you’ve definitely spent more than you wanted to, they all have a snazzy website that drew you in.

3. Marketing

Window shopping might be fun when you’re a buyer, but when the roles reverse, we want to minimize this. When you’ve built your website, you need to develop a strategy to get visitors to it.

A great website, SEO and later on, SEM (paid SEO) will go a long way in drawing customers to your products.

You’ll also need a place to Host, and a Payment Gateway for your website. But more about that later.
