If you’re in the e-commerce business, or even remotely interested in being a self-starter, you’ve probably heard about this one website that’s everywhere. It’s the MacD of Burgers, the KFC of fried chicken and the Google of search engines (sorry, Bing, we love you too).

If you haven’t guessed yet, I’m talking about Shopify. And if you still aren’t convinced about its powers by the end of the post, bring it on in the comments. 🔥🧯

Chances are your favourite websites are built and running on Shopify - Sephora uses it, the Kardashians keep up with it, Taylor Swift knows it all too well, and it definitely gave RedBull wings.

In fact, according to Internet statistics company Built with, there are 4,806,002 live websites currently powered by Shopify ... .more than 7.34 million online stores have been created on Shopify since its inception. ...and since 2020, Shopify store numbers have grown by over 200%.

Not sold on the idea yet? (yes, pun intended) let me show you why the biggest of the biggest use Shopify to build their brands

But what’s the craze about Shopify, what’s the huge deal about it? Alot, is the answer, and after working with multiple brands to establish their Shopify presence,  I’ll break it down for you:

  • Add Google Ads : Seamless integration of Google Ads is no longer a farfetched dream.

  • Teeming with themes: If you love Canva, you’ll love this, but you’ll love this either way. Shopify has a plethora of readymade, free themes that work well in a pinch and a starting point.

  • Payment providers : Most important thing as a seller is to make sure people can pay easily, Shopify takes care of the  money handling for you and allows integration. Currently however, checkout charges a floor of 2% per transaction. But you’re in luck, comment below “Pro-Tip” and I’ll share with you exactly how you can save that 2% per transaction.

  • Blogs galore : Not just an E-commerce site, Shopify allows you to pen all your inner thoughts. Selling makeup? How about a blog on skincare for the Indian skin.

  • Analytics : Don’t feel like you’re getting your worth? Have you checked your data? Shopify shows you analysis of your CMS and SEO performance, everything from where your customers are, what products are they loving, what parts of your sites are hero-ing, and of course SEO and CMS performance.

You may need a few tries to master the Shopify Admin, but the basic features—such as handling orders, processing payments, and adding products—are all simple to find and use from the main Admin dashboard. So there’s no need to worry about a learning curve, and you can concentrate on managing your business.

When you open Shopify’s admin dashboard, you’ll see something like the following, and it’s from here the magic happens:

  • Order Management and fulfillment -  You can see your orders, manage, fulfill, cancel, or review everything everywhere all at once. Shopify says, “There’s no need for countless sheets and systems. You can fulfill every order from your admin with Shopify’s built-in capabilities. And also create orders manually for customers in your store.

  • The Products page shows all products currently in your inventory, you can categorize them and optimize them for search. Add products, descriptions, and everything you need to hero your products page.

  • Discount and Gift Card Management - Where you can show your customers you care about them, and their loved ones, and show them your gratitude for joining your journey.

  • Analytics -  Everything numbers is available in this section, but don’t be intimidated, Shopify shows you performance trends and simplifies the numbers into decisions for you to take.

  • Marketing - Shows you your active campaigns and sets up automations for various interactions. You can use Shopify’s offerings to send different mails based on different trigger points. Is that one customer not completing his purchase? Send them a nudge via an automated email such as “Psst, your cart is lonely.” Here are some more examples: Shopify abandoned cart emails

  • Online Web store creation - Themes, designs and customization ( custom coding for elements) can be modified from here. Want a beautiful site? Get your products fool-proof and then make it as beautiful as you can using this feature of Shopify.

Don’t worry if you already use a different platform, switching to Shopify may definitely be worth it for you.

P.S I do a deep dive into these features for those committed to their value.
